chemoWave: A Mobile App for People Fighting Cancer

A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Doctors apply their tremendous expertise and chemo protocols, but side-effect management is inevitably trial and error. Patients try to recall how they felt in between treatments and doctors try to deduce, based on varying patient recollections.

The chemoWave app concept was to master the important task of receiving data input from chemotherapy patients, and then organizing, analyzing, and displaying that information in a meaningful way. This data synthesis would allow patients and doctors to create actionable and personalized plans based on what the patient was feeling and when, with greater accuracy. The app would also need to be engineered with patient privacy in mind, making it Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant.
